My beloved St. Stefanos,
I hope this issue of the Light finds all of you in good health, happiness and in God’s loving spirit! We have had an amazing start in September to our new Ecclesiastical year. We have begun all of our youth ministries again and it is exciting to see all of our youth back in church. Our youth are absolutely our future and having them in church to nourish their souls helps ensure they will walk in the right direction in life. A wise person said, “the presence of children is a gift to the Church and they remind us that our Church is growing.” Remember that “the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to Church, to God, and to one another.” I would ask all of you that when you see children in Church, let them know that you are happy to see them in God’s house and they are loved!
As we move into October, we have many many things going on. We will have our annual GOYA volleyball tournament that has been an amazing success for our community and has highlighted our beloved St. Stefanos throughout the State of Florida. We will also be partici-pating in SPIFFS once again with our local Ahepa and Daughters of Penelope Chapters tak-ing on this event. As usual, our KEFI dancers will also be performing at the festival. This is a big undertaking, just like our festival, and I would ask that if you have the time, please volun-teer a few hours as a portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Stefanos and our community. Lastly, we will finally see the benefit of our parishioners’ generosity in that we will be getting our new Air Conditioning system in October. We are hoping that the change from the old A/C system to the new system will not cause much disruption to our community, but if it does, we ask that you have patience and understanding in the minor inconvenience that will surely have a long lasting positive effect on our community.
Looking even further ahead, we will be having our fall General Assembly in November and have begun the process of doing our 2017 budget to present to the community. If anyone or any ministry has any requests for changes in their budget, now is the time to let us know to consider any possible additions, modifications, and/or changes. Please make any requests to me or Visha Anevich, our PC treasurer.
Finally, I would like to thank St. Stefanos and everyone for their amazing support of me in my election as Pinellas County Court Judge. It was a very long road to accomplish my goal and I could not have done it without the love, prayers, and well wishes from each and every per-son. Thank you to everyone and I appreciated everything everyone has done for me and my family.
With love in Christ,
