We are a biblically-rooted tree with branches in the city of St. Petersburg, FL. The community was established in 1961 by a few dedicated Greek Orthodox immigrants, whose roots go back to the lands of Ancient Christianity. After more than four decades of hard work and much devotion, the Saint Stefanos Community has become a vibrant parish, living and confessing the Orthodox Christian faith.
To this day, the Greek Orthodox Christian Church still follows the
faith, teachings and practice of the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
handed down faithfully to her by the Holy Fathers of the Church through
Holy Tradition. The Greek Orthodox Church over the past twenty
centuries has been living proof of the continuation of the act of the
Holy Spirit, who descended upon the Apostles on the day of Pentecost
(Acts 2:1- 4).
The community of Saint Stefanos offers a unique
spiritual flavor to those seeking spiritual renewal. The Greek Orthodox
Americans bring to this great nation with gratitude the best diamonds
of the spiritual treasures of the East. The Saint Stefanos community is
eager to share with everyone "an ancient dream, a song, a prophesy,”
inspired by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ who "touched the lips"
of those who proclaimed the Gospel, and "guided the hands" of those who
wrote the Good News two thousand years ago.
When in the area,
please join us in worship and we invite you for fellowship during the
coffee hour in the Social Hall following the Divine Liturgy. For more
information, please e-mail or call the church office at (727) 345 8235.
As a kind reminder, only Orthodox Christians who have properly prepared
themselves through fasting, prayer and recent Confession may approach
the Holy Chalice to receive Holy Communion during the services of the
Divine Liturgies.
I pray that the grace of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ will protect you and keep you safe from every harm.
In His Service
Fr. Joseph Samaan
