We are a biblically-rooted tree with branches in the city of
St. Petersburg, FL. The community was established in 1961 by a few
dedicated Greek Orthodox immigrants, whose roots go back to the lands
of Ancient Christianity. After more than four decades of hard work and much devotion, the Saint
Stefanos Community has become a vibrant parish, living and confessing
the Orthodox Christian faith.
In late 1961, approximately 30 families
came together to found the parish of Saint Stefanos. Many of the
families had been attending church at St. John the Baptist Church in
Tampa or St. Nicholas Cathedral in Tarpon Springs, so St. Stefanos
became a community centered in southern Pinellas County.
The Church Office is open Monday - Friday, 9:30AM-3:30PM.
The Church Office closes for all liturgical services, including Orthros and Divine Liturgy on a Feastday, Baptisms, Funerals, and any other special services that may occur during normal office hours; the Office will reopen following the conclusion of the service.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, I was recently informed by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta that he has promoted Father Joseph Samaan to a new assignment to lead the community of Saint Demetrios in Daytona Beach, FL. His Eminence made it very clear to me that he is well-pleased with the St. Stefanos community and this move comes as a gesture to express his satisfaction with Father Joseph's efforts and dedication. His Eminence has carefully reflected on who will be assigned to continue the work that Father Joseph and the St. Stefanos community have accomplished in the past five years. His Eminence informed me that Father John Bociu will be coming to us from the Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Tarpon Springs. The change in assignments is effective July 1, 2008. While it pains me that Father Joseph will be leaving us to assume the responsibility and challenges of leading another parish, I am happy that his dedicated service and love for St. Stefanos has been recognized and rewarded. As a parishioner and the president of the St. Stefanos community I look forward to working diligently with Father John Bociu to build on our past accomplishments and continue the growth of our community. Just as we are saddened by the loss of Father Joseph, I know from relatives in Tarpon Springs that many tears have been shed of Father John leaving that community. It is important for us to remember that our community is the host of its priest and we need to make very positive effort to welcome Father John, Presbytera Liliana, and their two beautiful children, Joanna and Adrian.
With brotherly love in Christ, |
