Dear St. Stefanos,
As we begin our new Ecclesiastical year on September 1, we have many exciting things going on in our church. Sunday school has started again and it is wonderful to see all the children and their families in church again after many vacations. We have a new Dance ministry that began at the end of last year, the Senior Kefi dancers, made up of an eclectic group of adults who want to have fun and learn how to dance. We have a new Dance Director for our Kefi Kids group, Maria Diveris, and we welcome her, congratulate her, and look forward to seeing her success with our youngest children. We are also pleased to see all our youth ministries practicing for upcoming events such as our Volleyball tournament and the Hellenic Dance Federation competition and coming together as a family and a community. As we all know, our success is not based on any one individual, but as a community as a whole.
Your Parish Council has also been hard at work in the last month trying to raise necessary funds for our community. Understanding our financial constraints, we began having luncheons after church to help raise funds. We have been fortunate to have had many donors to cover the cost of those lunches so the events have all been profitable for St. Stefanos. We are also fortunate that we have many more volunteer donors for several more lunches and we thank everyone who has made a generous offer to St. Stefanos.
Because we have a long way to go in being financially secure, the Parish Council decided to have a one day Fall Mini Festival on September 23. My dear husband Spiro is the Chairperson for the event and has received much support from several volunteers to help in this endeavor. The Parish Council is grateful to those people that have already volunteered their time, talents and treasure to make the festival a success. We still need your help though! There are many slots open for volunteers to sign up to work on the day of the festival whether in the food line, helping clean trays, in the kitchen or at the admission tents. Please make sure to stop by the registration table on Sundays to sign up for one of the shifts to help make this a successful festival for our community. If you would like to help in some other way or make a donation towards the cost of the expenses for the festival, please contact the church office or Spiro.
I want to thank all the Parish Council members who have been working so hard to make St. Stefanos a better place and I truly thank all those who have donated to St. Stefanos in the last month when we needed your help. St. Stefanos is our home and I know that all of you will continue to make our home a wonderful place to worship!
