Countries may differ on boundaries and on international strategies. They may argue over many things and even disagree over methods of pursuing peace, but there is one thing that in whatever dialect used, by whatever mode of expression shown, they all agree that the best loved word everywhere is MOTHER.
As individuals, we realized that the countless blades of grass that grow beneath our feet; the many stars that find their places when the sun drops out of view; the unnumbered leaves upon tree that hang in given positions that they might form shade from the blazing sun; all this and more God has provided in numbers for our benefit. There is one possession that comes in a package to itself. Place, nor time, nor condition ev-er alters the fact that there is MOTHER.
She was made that the idea of creation might be perpetuated through her. She retains her position that the links in the chain of life, as begun by Eve, would continue to grow, while God wills, and as long as there is a world, there is MOTHER.
There is a day set aside each and every year to pay special tribute to her. A day in which all mankind may participate for she should be the queen on that day in the many regions where humanity dwells. She is the hope of every nation, for truly the future of every race depends on MOTHER.
Nothing is more curious than to watch the instinct of motherhood in little girls as they play mother with their dolls. What equals the glow on a mother’s face, like the brilliance of the full moon, as she looks down on the face of the child God has given her, bone of her bones and flesh of her flesh. What price is there upon babies first coo, the first visible smile, or the wiggling of precious tiny toes? The anxiety of the first tooth, the first step, the first day of school, the first speech or song? No one knows the worth of these like MOTHER.
God provides her with an intuition that enables her to see the shadow of coming events. She has an invaluable sense of feeling things. She lives as faith, as Moses’ mother did, believing that he will have his angels keep watch over her baby even unto adulthood. She believes a way will be made and it will. She has faith to believe that God will, as He promised, guide all steps and will with his all seeing eye protect her child from harm. She lives with courage deep in her heart, which enables her to face life’s fiercest battles in sickness, danger and even death. She keeps courage to wait, to watch and to pray. As she walks through the house after all have gone to bed, checking, breathing a prayer, she finally hums softly a tune of confidence for a day well spent. Who else possesses uncanny strength and tries what others think is impossible than MOTHER.
May children everywhere pledge to keep the smile on mother’s face and the light in her eyes by striving to come up to her expectations or making life sweet for her that her latter days will be filled with pleasant memories. May God bless MOTHER!
